I received your letter of the 26th of Febry this day and am happy to hear that you and all friends at Creggan are well w:ch thank God is the Case with all friends here. I have got pretty well of the Rheumatism & hope I shall continue so but I am by means so stout as I was before the Sickness I had last Spring – I am thankful for your kind [small hole in document]tention of getting me Charley Quins [2] business Relative to the Legacy let to the heirs of Patk Traynor [3] but as it would be very inconvenient to Transact that business by letter I must decline it, he had therefore – better employ some At:ey in Dundalk or near him with whom he can have frequent Meetings on the Subject _ If Hanratty [4] does not pay your Mother I will compel him to do it for he is your Mothers Tenant & not the Doyles [5] .

42 College Green [7] 3rd March 1804 [1] John JACKSON (1780-1817). His father had died when he was about 15 years old and he has been managing (with his Mother’s help) the affairs of their farms and such. [2] A Charles QUIN lived in the townland of Cregganduff according to the 1828 Tithe Appointment Records. This townland is just north of Liscalgot and east of Urcher. [3] Patrick TRAYNOR In 1828 there was an Owen, Henry and Thomas TREANOR living in the townland of Rathkeelan. I don’t know who this Patrick is. [4] A Hugh HANRATTY was mentioned in the 1828 Census of Crossmaglen Townland and John, Felix & Bryan HANRATTY were mentioned in the 1828 Tithe Appointments of Rathkeelan, Creggan Parish, Co. Armagh, while a James HANRATTY was in the 1766 Census. I don’t know the identity of this HANRATTY.

In 1766 Census, there was a James DOYLE resident at Urker. In the
1828 Tithe Appointments, there was a David DOYLE. I
don’t know which one it would be here.
